Why Do You Keep Doubting Yourself?

Doubt is that small voice in your head that says don't do it because you won't be successful. It's when you tell yourself your dreams are stupid, you're nothing but a screw up, and you'll never amount to anything. It will lead you down the path of self-destruction, and cause your fears to grow enormously.

Have you heard of the term self-sabotage? It's when you ruin relationships, opportunities, and blessings due to your actions and responses to the situations at hand. Most of the time you’re unaware of your sabotaging behaviors because you think life is just giving you a hard time. In actuality, it’s because you are doubting yourself, and doubting anything good could ever happen to you. Once doubt surfaces, it begins to spread quicker than you could ever imagine. It can lead to depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem to name a few.

Here are some common sayings we’ve all used at some point in our lives:

  1. I can't do this.
  2. I'll never be able to …
  3. No one is going to buy my products, or use my
  4. service.
  5. I'm not smart enough to ...
  6. I won't succeed.
  7. I'm unattractive.
  8. No one loves me.
  9. I'm a failure.
  10. This is too hard.
  11. I don't have time.

Think back over your life, what do you typically doubt about yourself and what has it kept you from accomplishing? When you focus solely on doubt, you place useless limitations over your life. By doing this, you are placing your abilities in a very tiny box. If you don't believe in yourself, why should anyone else? If you carry doubt everywhere you go, others will be sure to pick up on it too.

Have you ever taken the time to ask yourself “Why do I keep doubting myself?” For most people, it's about the possibility of failure. To keep from feeling disappointed, you trick yourself into not even trying. You give up before you have the chance to start. Maybe you’ve failed a few times before so you think this time won’t be any different, but this is how you sell yourself short. This is how you stay complacent, and never reach your goals. Stop being afraid to make a mistake.

You need to attack doubt, eliminate it from your life, and then overcome it. You need to be 100% confident in yourself, and all your endeavors because it’s the only way to conquer doubt. You should know you can do anything you put your mind to, all it takes is hard work and effort. Doubt only leads to confusion, and confusion leads to being stagnant. How you talk about yourself is a direct reflection of how you feel about yourself. Choose to propel your thinking today. Your words are powerful, so be mindful of what you release into the atmosphere.
